| Who I am: |
My name is Mary Klipp and I am a happily married newlywed of three
years. My husband Jeff and I, both 26, live in St. Louis, and just returned
from a four-year military tour in Hawaii, where Jeff served in the U.S.
Army. After his term of service ended, we moved back to Missouri to be close
to both of our families. Now I work as a freelance Catholic writer and
editor, and Jeff is a truck driver. Our pastimes include youth ministry,
watching movies together every Friday night and spending time with family
and friends. |
| What I've done: |
I graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 1999 with a
major in journalism and minor in history. My passion is Catholic journalism.
In 1997, I served as assistant editor of YOU! Magazine for one year in
California, living in community with other young adults, attending daily
Mass, and producing an award-winning national Catholic publication under the
direction of Paul Lauer. After returning to Missouri to finish my BA, I
worked in a Catholic hospital as a PR writer and began my freelancing
career. While I was in Hawaii, I served as communications director for St.
Michael Center for the Blessed Virgin Mary, a local Catholic evangelization
center. My other passion is working with Catholic teens. I've been involved
in Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), a national Catholic youth movement, for 10
years, organizing retreats, serving on our local board and attending
national conventions. |
| What I'm doing: |
Besides writing, I have gotten really involved with our new
Parish, Sacred Heart in Valley Park, Mo. I teach CCD to public school 7th
graders, sing with the Life Teen Choir, and cantor with the adult
choir. I'm also making plans to go back and get my Masters in either
teaching or communications (still praying on that big decision). In addition,
I've been doing a couple of odd jobs while growing my freelance business,
including working at our local theme park in the finance department. |
| Other stuff: |
My husband is my best friend, and together we love the exploits
of our only niece, five-year-old Alyssa. She keeps us on our toes with her
constant creativity, endless energy, and soccer playing. While Jeff teaches
her new ways to outwit and bug Aunt Mary, I've been teaching the little
Mozart how to play piano and to play jokes on Uncle Jeff. She's the next
best thing to having kids of our own, which we hope God will bless us with
in His time (I'm hoping for four...:-) |
