| On A Personal
Note...
by Brandon Jubar
The Last Minute
As I write this note, my watch is beeping, informing me that yet
another hour has gone by. It's now 4am and I am still preparing
stuff for my trip to Denver. The National Conference of Catholic
Youth Ministry is expecting me this week. Too bad I put so much
off until the last minute. Ouch.
(Of course, as you are reading this, I am either on my way to
Denver, or I'm already there. Either way, the effect is just not
the same. :-)
I tend to put a lot of stuff off until the last minute.
Sometimes it's out of procrastination, sometimes I just feel like
doing something else... but often I simply misjudge the amount of
time things will take to do.
During Advent, we are asked to prepare for the coming of the
Lord. It is the time of the Church year when we are supposed to
really focus on getting ourselves -- and our souls -- ready for
Christ.
What a cool idea! The Church actually schedules a specific time
for us to get our spiritual together!
You see, I need something like that to get myself in gear.
Because if I'm left to my own devices, the second coming will end
up being like this trip to Denver: I'll be looking forward to
it, but inwardly concerned that I forgot something very
important.
Don't you make the same mistake. Don't put off your preparation
for salvation and then forget something vital. Start getting
ready NOW. Focus on this Advent season and truly put yourself
into it.
Who knows? When the time comes, perhaps I'll still be scrambling
around trying to get things in order, and you'll go on ahead.
Peace,
~Brandon
