On A Personal
Note...
"Great Games"by

"100+ Great Games" is the title of the
CD-ROM. I look at it almost daily, as I write and edit various articles, stories and
eZines. It sits there in my desk's built-in CD rack, taking up space and gathering dust.
I have played two games from that CD. Yup. Only
two of the 100+ great games -- which means that I can't even tell you if they truly ARE
"great".
Don't get me wrong -- I really like playing games
on the computer. It can be almost mind-numbing, in a relaxing sort of way. No, my problem
is that I simply don't have the time.
There are days when I think, "Wouldn't it be
nice to have time to just play? Wouldn't it be fantastic to walk out of work in the
afternoon knowing that I had no deadlines to face until I came in the next morning?
Wouldn't it be great to stay up late playing on the computer instead of working?
Wouldn't it be nice?"
From somewhere deep inside of me, the answer
comes.
"No, it wouldn't be nice."
You see, I need to be working towards something,
or I feel like I'm not doing anything at all. I have to dream dreams, make plans, and set
goals. Life is a journey, and I like my destination to be a moving target.
There is nothing wrong with playing, but like
anything else, it should be done in moderation. People need goals. We need to feel the
satisfaction of completing valuable projects. It helps to reinforce our self-worth, which
in turn makes it easier to reach out and help those around us.
Maybe some day I'll play a few more of those 100+
great games. Then again, maybe I'll just use the time to write a few more articles and
help spread the Good News. :-)
Peace,
~Brandon
