On A Personal
Note...
"The Weather Outside Is Frightful"by Brandon Jubar
And so the weather has finally changed in
Michigan... hmph.
As I sit here typing this, a cool breeze is
finally coming through the open window, ending the stickiness I've been inwardly grumbling
about.
Yes, that's right. I've been thinking that it's
just too muggy today. And yesterday it was too windy. The day before that? Too mild. (Or
was it too cold?)
Do you see a pattern here?
I like to complain about the weather. I don't know
why -- and I don't know that I'm really all that serious about it -- but I do it anyway!
It's sort of my "grumpy catharsis".
I complain about the weather, over which I have
absolutely no control, and I get it out of my system. In the grand scheme of things, I
suppose it's actually a reasonable way to vent some frustration. And we all need to vent
from time to time!
There are many things in our lives over which we
have little or no control. And though most of us have heard the Serenity Prayer -- heck,
most of us have it hanging in our homes -- I doubt that many of us actually pray it. I
know I don't. Do you?
I imagine that prayer would be more beneficial to
me than simply complaining about all of the things I can't control. (Yes... even the
weather.) So let's take a quick moment to reflect on the first verse of that beautiful
prayer:
"God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference."
Throughout this Easter season, I pray that God
grants you serenity, courage and wisdom.
And I hope the weather improves. :-)
Peace,
~Brandon
